Meeting held by Congress, JD(S) to discuss the sharing of seats for Lok Sabha elections

 BENGALURU: On Thursday the coordination committee of the Congress-JD(S) coalition government, will be having its first meeting after the week-long developments which was the result of the efforts done by the BJP to poach MLAs.

The main objective of the meeting is to discuss the seat sharing between the two parties for the Lok Sabha elections, which are scheduled for later this year. However, the JD(S) initially wanted 12 out of the 28 Lok Sabha seats in the state of Karnataka, but it is being indicated that the party may settle for five or six.

Siddaramaiah, who heads the committee, along with the other members of the panel such as, AICC general secretary KC Venugopal, chief minister HD Kumaraswamy and JD(S) secretary-general K Danish Ali, who are expected to take stock of the current fluid political situation in the state.

Meanwhile, the Congress camp cheered the entry of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra into active politics. The last time she campaigned in the state of Karnataka was two decades. Priyanka was then the centre of attraction for all the eyes as she defied the security cordon and blended freely with the gathering, especially women.

Kumaraswamy had also welcomed the elevation of Venugopal as the AICC general secretary (organisation) and the entry of Priyanka into politics.
