EVMs are untamperable and cannot be manipulated : Dr GVG Krishna Murthy

Guntur:Former commissioner of Election Commission of India, Dr.GVG Krishna Murthy said tht EVMs are untamperable and cannot be manipulated or managed. He said, the politicians when they win, they won't say anything,when they loose, they criticize the EVMs,which is very silly and added that EVMs are foolproof. He inaugurated 'Election Information Centre', near Tahsildar's office in Bapatla on Thursday which was set up by the ' Forum For Better Bapatla' to extend various services to voters and to educated them.

He said, EVMs are very suitable for a big country like India and reminded that Election Commission introduced in assembly elections for the first time in 1990's.Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPATS) slips can always be counted. There won't be any discrepency between EVMs and VVPATS. But, counting the VVPAT slips is difficult, it takes lot of time, which is unpracticable, Dr.Krishna Murthy said.

Director General of AP Human Resource Development Institute D.Chakrapai felicitated the former Election Commissioner and praised the Forum's initiative in setting up 'Election Information Centre", which is first of its kind.

Forum Secretary P C Sai Babu said the Centre works between 10.30 AM to 12 Noon on all working days. The Centre was set up to educate voters in view of the ensuing general elections, he added. Padmavathi, wife of Dr GVG Krishna Murthy, Municipal Commissioner G Sravan Kumar, Rural CI Balasubrahmanyam, Election DT Ch Visweswara Rao, were among those participated.
