KOLAR: On Friday morning near Karadag Uriki village a five-year-old male leopard was trapped in a cage 30 km from Malur, Kolar.

As per the sources of the forest department, there have been various complaints from locals about the presence of leopard in the hills around the Tekal village.

Based on the complaints, the forest department officials kept cages at four locations in and around the forests and hills of Tekal two weeks ago.

KP Dhanalakshmi, the range forest officer, said, “The cages were kept owing to pressure from villagers in a bid to trap the leopard and save humans. The villagers have persistently been complaining about the leopard, which at times had eaten their livestock.”

The leopard would be relocated according to the directions of superior officials in the department, said the officer.
