MANGALURU: As there has been a rise in the registrations for the NEET UG-2019, 15.2 lakh candidates will be taking the test on May 5. There has been an increase of 2 lakh candidates when compared to the previous year.

From the state of Karnataka there is an increase in the enrolment of female candidates. The highest number is from Maharashtra, where 2.19 lakh candidates have registered.

Navin C Joshi, the academic head and VP (NEET and JEE), Gradeup, an institution that prepares candidates, had said that, the medical profession is still considered to bye noblest across all strata of the society and age groups of people. According to the Medical Council of India, there is an increase in registrations by 14.4% in the year 2019.

The National Testing Authority (NTA) also permits the students who are belonging to the age group of above 25 years to appear provisionally for the exam.
