BENGALURU: On Friday, the BJP leader Thippeswamy, along with former Molakalmuru MLA, and his supporters joined the Congress in the presence of Dinesh Gundu Rao, the KPCC president.

“BJP leaders are untrustworthy. Many BJP leaders from Bellary and Chitradurga districts will join the Congress soon,” said Thippeswamy after his induction.

Thippeswamy, is a Scheduled Tribe leader, who had unsuccessfully contested in the 2018 assembly elections as an independent against B Sreeramulu, his political mentor-turned-foe.

“I am happy that I joined the Congress. I will work for the victory of Congress candidates in Bellary and Chitradurga Lok Sabha seats,” he said. On the 7th of March the party will be organising a public rally in Chitradurga to mark the entry of Thippeswamy into Congress.

According to reports, Umesh Jadhav, the MLA of Chincholi, with alleged interference in his constituency by the district minister Priyank Kharge, will soon be joining the BJP and shall contest from the Kalaburagi Lok Sabha seat. Jadhav will taking on Mallikarjun Kharge, if everything goes according to the plan.

Sources have said that, the BJP leaders, who are keenly observing the developments in Mandya, have taken the decision of inviting Sumalatha to contest as a BJP candidate. A BJP leader has said that, “The party is ready for both options — make Sumalatha the party candidate or extend support to her if she contests as an independent by not fielding a candidate.”
