The city welcomed the distinguished fashion designer, Tarun Tahiliani on Tuesday who unveiled his latest collection of bridal jewellery, in collaboration with ‘Azva’. Interacting with Hyderabad Hans, Tarun said, “Redefined through the years, there is nothing that adds royalty, glamour and fire to a design like gold.”
Emphatic on how beautiful and rich gold looks on the Indian skin, Tarun adds, “While white gold and platinum is popular in the West which suits their skin tone, there’s nothing that suits the Indian skin better than gold.” The USP of Tarun’s latest collection is that it can be worn not only with the bridal outfit but on different other attires as well.
“A woman can also pair it with a pair of bootlegger jeans and a satin shirt and still look like a million bucks. It’s all about carrying it off which everyone should do with every piece of jewellery,” he advices. Tarun’s effort has been to reinvent gold by mixing and matching it contemporary designs.
“I have no problem with traditional attires. I think the Satlada (seven stringed pearl necklace) is the most beautiful accessory. What you do with it to keep it alive is what will make the difference,” he says. Hyderabadis have a rich taste for designer jewellery and this was highlighted by the Director of World Gold Council Vipin Sharma.
“Being in Hyderabad is special for us. People here appreciate intricate detailing and craftsman techniques. Young set of consumers appreciate what we are trying to get into this market. We are excited,” he said. When questioned about the reason for unveiling the line of jewellery at this time of the year he said, “The timing is perfect as the pieces will be available in showrooms for people who will be getting married in the period between March and May which is the wedding season.”
“The brand Azva takes its inspiration from the seven vows of Indian wedding and it has not much to do with the ritual per-say but it is a modern interpretation of that,” he says. The new collection comprises exquisite necklaces, showstopper chokers, seven row haars, jhumkis, handcuffs and bracelet ensembles which beautifully showcase the idea of seven in elements like flowers, circles, rows and motifs.
