Cosmetic surgery in the age of Selfies

In case you haven’t noticed smartphones are everywhere and so it shouldn't come as any surprise that we’re crazy about selfies.

According to some experts almost 50% of all Americans have taken a Selfie at some point. On social networks like Instagram, there's almost 40 million images which are tagged "Selfie". With mind-boggling numbers like that it makes sense that this trend is also driving more people towards cosmetic surgery.

According to a plastic surgeon Dr Ariel Ostad, there has been an increase in the number of his clients who bring selfies into his office to point out their bodily flaws to him.

Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery center has just compiled some research exploring this modern trend. Popular procedures like Nose Jobs are leading the pack with a sharp increase of 10 percent in 2013.
