Mumbai: It was a moment to enjoy friendship and love at the ongoing Summer-Resort edition of Lakme Fashion Week as designer Payal Singhal called up "close friends" Monica Dogra and Shibani Dandekar to walk for her as a showstopper. Both singers and actresses were spotted enjoying each other's company but also expressing their love for traditional Indian wear and how they chose to wear such designs off runway too.

Both Monica and Shibani walked for Singhal in a lehanga and choli on day three of the fashion gala that is taking place at St.Regis and were elated with the entire aura that comes along with the outfit.

"I feel wonderful wearing this outfit. One of the things I love about Payal Singhal's clothes is that she makes Indian wear extremely wearable. When you put around and show up, it feels really nice. I personally love wearing choli and lehanga and this one is amazing as it's really light and fun," Monica told IANS.

Sharing her opinion with IANS too, Shibani said: "Payal Singhal has proved that Indian wear can be sexy too. You can do so many different things with it. I loved the way she made us walk without a duppata. I feel that if you are comfortable in a particular outfit than you earn the look."

Singhal's Summer Resort Bride 2016 Collection is inspired by the enigmatic elegance of iconic Indian royal women. For the fast fashion world of today, the collection has a selection of versatile separates mixed in with some classics keeping in mind the inherent style of the modern Day Maharani.

There were saris with boxy crop tops, lehengas with bandeau cholis, drop waist kurtas and Singhal's signature churidar-skirts.

Asked what made her call up Monica and Shibani as her showstoppers, Singhal told IANS: " I took two of them because the collection was all about contemporary Indian princess and I want to have that feel of girlfriends and bridesmaids. I have seen the chemistry between two of them. They both sing and they are hot as hell. We wanted to have fun.

"Shibani is very close friend of mine and Monica is Shibani's close friends so automatically the choice happened. Work should be fun and I feel it's a love triangle."

The collection was rich in texture and shine and done in colours like pomegranate, slate grey, teal, rose quartz, iced azure and stone with delicate zardosi, mukaish and salma-sitara work.
