Every mother and father wait desperately to have a part of their heart walk out of their body when they are expecting a child. A memory is all they wish to capture through photographs that tell their own story. A maternity photo shoot is such that needs perfect planning to capture the best moments of life that one can look back at, and all they do is simply smile.

A good photographer is bound to give you few tips, before he/she begins clicking photographs. Ideally some tips should be shared with the client in advance so that they are well prepared and see to their styling as per the tips shared.

A maternity photo shoot has many photographs taken of the belly where probably the parents have their hands around it. Hands and feet play an important role in such pictures. A mother should look at options of getting a nice manicure and pedicure done or simply wear a light nail paint polish for a more finished look that will enhance a close up of her hands around the belly. If an attire is such where it can be seen, then keep hands, feet, knees and elbows moisturised since a lot of focus is on them.

A unique way of capturing your baby’s first appearance is through the ultrasound. A moment that was much celebrated when you saw the little heart beat and hands moving. The picture shared by the doctor of the ultrasound should be kept handy and can be included in the photo shoot.

It is essential that the maternity photo shoot is also about the father and if there is an older sibling to reflect how wonderfully the family is growing. Your photographer might be carrying few props to incorporate in the photo shoot, and it would be great if you have a few of your own as well. It could be your other child’s soft toy or cherished family keepsake that you and your husband have been saving for the special day.

Both the parents need to look at clothing options and need to ensure they are comfortable at all times. In a perfect photo shoot, one might have two options for clothes, a casual one and the other slightly dressy. Avoid big floral prints or big patterns and stripes. It’s best if you choose from a selection of solid colours so that the attention is easily fixed on the tummy. A little tight and body hugging attire will compliment a mother’s figure. To break the monotony of a solid colour, one could accessorize with a cheerful scarf or statement jewellery. Both mother and father, and if there are older siblings, then in that case can coordinate on a similar colour palette, however, not selecting the same colour completely.
