For a glimpse of the rich heritage of Telugu culture and history, Telugu Museum atop Kailasagiri is the right place in the port town of Visakhapatnam.

Tourists from the neighbouring States of Orissa, Bengal and even Chhattisgarh throng the museum to know the cultural heritage of Telugu people.

The circular building which accommodates the history of various kings who ruled the Telugu States in the shape of fiber reinforced plastic sculptures.

There is a revolving stage in the centre of the museum with a seating capacity of 120 which moves around taking the audience from once section to another section during its 58-minute round after briefing them the history of that particular period.

It starts with the Telugu State song “Maa Telugu Talliki…” and continues with the times of various kings.

The sculptures of Telugu Talli, Thousand Pillar Temple, Sri Krishnadeva Raya presiding over the court with Ashta Diggajas (the eight poets), Poetess Molla, Lepakshi Nandi, Annamayya, Peunukonda Fort, Tiriupati temple, Rani Rudrama Devi and history of Kakatiyas, history of Bhadrachalam and importance of Amaravati Region.

The museum also consists of the important stone sculptured coins, and scriptures on stones. The doom of the museum is adorned with Kalankari work by the artists from Sri Kalahasti. It also consists of ten large Lepakshi paintings much to the pleasure of the art connoisseur.

At the entrance, the wall of the room is filled with the sculptures of 70 prominent Telugu personalities including Prime ministers, chief ministers, Dadasaheb Phalke awardees, Jnanapith awardees, scientists, freedom fighters, litterateurs and others.

The audio-visual presentation and the State song sung by SP Balasubrahmanyam could be described as highlights.
