An average human spends about one third of their life sleeping. Sleep is essential for our all the systems in our body to reset, repair, and rejuvenate. Doctors advise that the ideal number of hours for an adult to sleep typically ranges from 6-8 hours. Here are few things you can incorporate into your night-time routine for sound sleep.

1. Dim the lights
Our ancestors’ biological clocks were naturally attuned to fall asleep as the day ended, since they depended on sunlight. Create an environment in your home that helps your body understand it's time to rest. An easy way to do that is to dim the lights and eliminate white light. Light a candle to relax further.

2. Restrict gadget usage
We're in the brilliant age of Netflix and Facebook - which aren't the best for our sleep. Stop using all gadgets at least thirty minutes before you sleep. All gadgets emanate blue light that damage your eyes while restricting the sleep signals from reaching your brain. Reverse these effects easily by switching your gadgets to reading mode in the evening.

3. Play ambient music
Ambient music helps create a calm and peaceful environment, instantly putting one in a stress-free zone. There are numerous apps and videos on YouTube that have great selections of ambient sounds ranging from musical instruments and nature sounds.

4. Aromatherapy for sound sleep
Few essential oils have relaxing effects on the mind and body - the best aroma being lavender. Invest in essential oils you can use in a diffuser or make a DIY spray with vodka and few drops of oil. Scent your space with mild and relaxing scents to help induce sleep.

5. Read A Book
Most people have the habit of checking their phone before they sleep. Replace your gadget with a good read. Reading as little as ten pages a day would give you new insights and knowledge.

6. Relaxing Drinks
Drinks like a warm glass of milk have always been the go-to for a great night's sleep. If milk is not something you enjoy, you could also try Chamomile tea that has the same, relaxing effects.

A routine of all these steps or even incorporating one of them would definitely help you sleep easily, and wake up feeling rejuvenated. Here's to a great night's sleep!
