Pickets, check posts set up all over Telangana AutoNallagonda/Medak/Mahbubnagar: Police have intensified checking and filed more bind-over cases against the Telangana activists to prevent them to go ahead with the Chalo Assembly programme slated for June 14. Police claim that the programme has no permission while the activists stick to their guns that they would go ahead with the agitation whatever may be the consequences. In Nalgonda alone, the police claimed to have filed bind over cases against 800 people. However, the activists say that the bind-over cases were filed against the double the number. Nalgonda district superintendent of police Navin Gulati warned of stern action against people belonging to TJAC or any other party if they start any dharna or rally as Section 30 of the Police Act was promulgated in the district. He warned the young people not to face criminal cases as their lives would be spoiled beyond repair. Police have already set up 202 check posts on Hyderabad-Vijayawada national highway and 10 check posts on Hyderabad-Bhupalapalli road in addition to the 25 check posts on internal roads. Police are concentrating on the movement of activists who travel from Warangal via Nalgonda to Hyderabad and they set up check posts at Alair, Bhuvanagiri, Bommalaramaram and Rajapet areas. They set up a check post at Tupranpet in Choutappal mandal to stop the activists from Suryapet, Kodada, Miryalaguda and Nakirekal areas. Police are stopping people on mere suspicion and demanding production of identity cards. If they fail to show any identity card, after checking with the police station concerned, they are booking a bind over case against them in case there were cases against them in the past. Choutappal CI Jagannadha Reddy said that bind-over cases were filed against 40 persons. Police are checking each and every vehicle for the activists. Leaders of JAC, TRS and CPI leaders asserted that they would make the programme successful at any cost. At Medak, the police set up Naka Bandi on the Outer Ring Road and near the toll gates to check the activists from going to Hyderabad. Ramachandrapuram CI Srinivasulu said that they had already filed bind-over cases against 40 persons. He warned the private travels, school managements from lending their vehicles to the activists to go to Hyderabad. "The vehicles would be seized," he said. In Mahbubnagar, student leaders of TRSV, TJAC, ABVP resolved that they would make the Chalo Assembly programme a grand success come what may. The students would participate in large numbers in the progoramme, they asserted. SP Nagendra Kumar said that 57 bind-over cases were filed against 567 persons in the district. He said that the police intensified checking by setting up a number of check posts at various places in the district to stop the activists from going to Hyderabad. Police have been checking all the vehicles at Timmapur, according to DSP Karunakar. The checking would continue for three more days, he added. Maktal police have taken into custody 16 persons of TRS, eight of BJP and filed bind-over cases against them in the presence of the MRO.
