Hyderabad: A painter fell from the fifth floor of the L-Block in Andhra Pradesh Secretariat while engaged in work here on Thursday. The incident took place when the victim, 25-year-old Mahesh, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, lost his grip and reportedly slipped from the temporary structure built with pipes to paint the eight floors building of the L-Block.

He was carrying out the painting works of the building in the fifth floor. But reportedly lost balance and fell from atop on a tree’s branch near the building and survived with severe head injuries. He was immediately rushed to the nearby Mediciti Hospital and discharged in the evening, said a security official on duty.

Mahesh was reportedly not wearing any helmet nor provided with a safety belt, which is mandatory for workers while carrying out their work on high rise buildings thus violating the safety norms. The issue was brought to the notice of the contractors, the security official said.
