Update: 2018-11-19 22:50 IST

Those responded to the query on the merits of Prof M Kodandaram’s decision not to contest felt that intellectuals must not jump onto the bandwagon of elections. Instead, the intellectuals must devote themselves to educate people on social issues. Majority of respondents felt that he is a true polymath and the ruling TRS had not given him respect he deserved. Some of the respondents felt that he took a good decision not to contest in the forthcoming elections. The election arena, a few respondents felt, remained dominated by money and muscle power. Prof M Kodandaram has taken a good decision to opt out of contest.  He is a great man and political genius.  In these days to contest of election is not important.  It is necessary to give directions to candidates.

It is good decision on the part of Prof M Kodandaram to opt out contest. Kutami needs his services. If he contested, he would have confined himself to one constituency. Now he can visit several constituencies and give guidance to candidates.

I think it is definitely a good decision on the part of Prof M Kodandaram to opt out from the contest in the forthcoming elections. But, he has decided to campaign for Mahakutami candidates. Prof Kodandaram is more a political activists. It should be said to his credit that he is striving to create awareness among the people.

It is a good decision from TJS point of view. As Prof M Kodandaram and Mahakutami leaders are working for the defeat of the ruling TRS, it is better for him not to contest. He should  strive to expose the failures of TRS during its four-and-half-year rule. As the Congress party announced him as the convenor of common minimum programme (CMP), he should focus his attention on ensuring that Kutami, if elected to power, fulfil the aspirations of people. He may secure MLC post later

I think it is a good decision on the part of Prof M Kodandaram to opt out of contest. It is an important and a clever decision taken by the Congress party to utilise the services of Prof Kodandaram. The TRS has not treated him properly. He had rejected the offer by the TRS for Rajya Sabha seat. He should ensure that the Kutami fulfils its election promises.

Prof Kodanda Ram decision not  to contest is a welcoming step.  As an intellectual, he should play a key role  in bringing  Mahakutami to power in the State by educating the people. He should be honoured if Kutami comes to power.

Pro Kodandaram has good name in Telangana. Intellectuals should not contest in the elections. It is because of the fact that the money and muscle power play a key role in elections. I am glad he has decided not to contest.  I advise Mahakutami leaders to utilise Prof Kodandaram’s services properly.

TJS chief professor M Kodandaram has decided not to contest in the forthcoming Assembly polls and devoted more time to  campaigning for the Mahakutami. Bickerings in the Mahakutami could have made him opt out of contest. His decision not to contest will send a wrong message to the people. I think it is not good decision on the part of Prof Kodandaram.

I don’t think it is a good decision on the part of M.Kodandaram. He was appointed as the chairman of Mahakutami Manifesto committee. Prof Kondaram is reportedly contending for Deputy Chief Minister’s post. But I don’t think this Kutami will give any post to Prof Kodandaram.

It is not good decision on the pat of TJS chief prof M Kodandaram to opt out of contest. The TJS is a small  regional party with small cadre but has a big leader with Telangana tag. Congress is the national party with big cadre. Prof Kodandaram has chosen to support the Congress and TDP which were responsible for attacks on employees, student, journalists, doctors, advocates, and other professionals. The professor should have thought of all these factors before joining hands with Kutami.
