Shinde said that the UPA government would follow all the instructions and the guidelines passed by the CWC. He said it was not mandatory for the State Assembly to move a resolution in order to initiate the process. A Cabinet Note would be prepared, based on which the Cabinet decision would be taken. It would come to the Cabinet soon, stated the Home Minister.

Interacting with media persons, Shinde said, “Consensus has been reached on the future of the State of Andhra Pradesh. The Centre is actively considering the resolution of the Congress Working Committee and the Union Cabinet will be briefed shortly.”

At present, the Union Home Ministry is preparing a resolution for the separate State of Telangana, which will go to the Cabinet for its nod. Later the GoM will go into the nitty-gritty, before sending it back to the Cabinet with the necessary changes. The resolution will then be sent to the President of India, who would refer it to the State Legislature.

After the President’s assent, the Notification will be issued constituting Telangana as the 29th State of the Indian Union. Shinde said he was aware of the protests in the Seemandhra region and appealed to the people to maintain peace at all costs. Since there are necessary procedures to be followed, the UPA government can bring the bill only in the Winter Session of Parliament and not in the Monsoon Session as asked by the leader of the Opposition Sushma Swaraj at the All-Party Meeting held earlier in the day.
