More Central funds for AP tourism projects

Union Tourism Minister K Chiranjeevi has approved Central Finance Assistance (CFA) for the ongoing tourism mega circuit projects at Tirupati and in Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh. Under this project, the Tourism Ministry has sanctioned funds for the construction of tourist arrival centres and tourist information centres, mini-cultural auditoriums, children parks and renovation of Dwaja Stambham at various temples.

New Delhi: Union Tourism Minister K Chiranjeevi has approved Central Finance Assistance (CFA) for the ongoing tourism mega circuit projects at Tirupati and in Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh. Under this project, the Tourism Ministry has sanctioned funds for the construction of tourist arrival centres and tourist information centres, mini-cultural auditoriums, children parks and renovation of Dwaja Stambham at various temples.

The project development of heritage circuit at Tirupati has been sanctioned Rs 13.96 crore under second installment. This project involves in the development of tourism facilities at various temples in Chittoor district like Sri Kalyana Venkateshwara Swamy Temple, Sri Vedanaryana Swamy Temple, Srivari mettu, Chandragiri Fort, Sri Kalahasteeshwara Temple and Sri Varasidhi Vinayaka Temple.

For the project development of heritage circuit in Kadapa District as mega circuit project Rs11.08 crore has been sanctioned under second installment. Kadapa was selected as a mega circuit destination because of presence of chains of temples and forts that exist since the Vijay Nagar Empire.

There are total 21 temples and related forts covered under this project in Kadapa District among them are Gandikota Fort, Vaidhyanatha Swami Temple, Saumya Natha Temple, Kodandarama Temple and Athirala Parasurma Temple. All these temples have immense antiquity and heritage importance. This project involves in the development of tourism facilities like construction of public toilets, drinking water facilities, landscaping & park development and tourist information centres at various locations, which are considered under this project.

Development and promotion of various tourism destinations & products, is primarily the responsibility of the respective State Government/Union Territory (UT) Administration. However, the Union Tourism Ministry provides Central Financial Assistance (CFA) for tourism projects identified in consultation with the State Governments, subject to availability of funds. It also entails inter-se priority and adherence to the scheme guidelines.
