New Delhi: TDP Parliamentary Party leader Nama Nageswara Rao on Tuesday led a delegation of party MPs to the Chief Vigilance Commissioner, CBI Director and to the Enforcement Directorate, urging speeding up of investigations into the disproportionate assets case of YSRCP supremo YS Jaganmohan Reddy. The TDP also sought appointments from President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and Finance Minister P Chidambaram to represent to them on this issue.

Nama Nageswara Rao alleged that there is a “match-fixing” between the Congress and the YSRCP to pave the way for Jaganmohan Reddy to obtain the bail. He warned that if the agencies fail to deliver in the case, then the TDP will take recourse to the option of knocking at the doors of the court. White-collar crimes, with enormous losses to the State exchequer, need to be viewed seriously and meted out sternest punishment, he said. Money-laundering is spread over six nations and there is no probe yet in this regard. Despite dispatching letters rogatory to six nations, there was no follow-up action on it, he said. While the CBI has assessed disproportionate assets at Rs 43,000 crore, only property worth Rs 229 crore was attached, he said.

Elaborating on the “match-fixing” between Congress and the YSRCP, Rao charged that the CBI had approached the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), which is directly under Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, for sanction of permission for prosecution. But it was never given. The CBI even informed the Apex Court that the AP State government was not cooperating and not providing vital information required in the case. “How then can the investigation progress in the case?” Rao asked. “This is proof of the Congress bailout for Jaganmohan Reddy,” he said.

The TDP leader recalled the statement of AICC General Secretary incharge of AP affairs Digvijay Singh saying that the DNA of the Congress and the YSRCP is the same. This was also a proof in this regard, he stated. Further, Rao said the TDP had collected evidence of financial irregularities on a large-scale even at the time of former chief minister YS Rajashekhar Reddy in 2008. It is not as if the TDP is now only targeting YS Jaganmohan Reddy, he said.
