Rajnath, Chandrababu say no discussions on poll tie-up
“The Congress has played a cruel joke. We have not changed our stand on Telangana, but the issues confronting Seemandhra region should not be ignored.”
VENKAT PARSA New Delhi: TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday slammed the Congress for its political games and its attempts to destroy the State for sheer political gains. The Congress is angling for merger of the TRS in Telangana and wants the YSRCP to gain in Seemandhra, so that it could enter into a post-poll tie-up. Chandrababu Naidu urged President Pranab Mukherjee to direct the Union Government to facilitate dialogue between the JACs and civil society on either side of the divide, so that enduring solutions could be found.
In a three-page letter to President Pranab Mukherjee, Chandrababu Naidu said in the past he had addressed two letters to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to step in and to amicably resolve the issue. When the people of the State are passing through a trauma and agony, it was expected that the Prime Minister would play a proactive role. Instead, the Prime Minister’s advice to APNGOs was to meet Antony Committee and represent to it.
Apparently, the Prime Minister is treating bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh an internal matter of the Congress and not an issue that required to be handled by the Union Government. Such an insensitive handling of the agitation by the people has only strengthened the resolve of the people to further intensify their agitation. Chandrababu Naidu urged President Pranab Mukherjee to direct the Union Government to immediately hold talks with the agitation people, in order to address their concerns and arrive at durable solutions to the problems facing Andhra Pradesh
Chandrababu Naidu also met BJP President Rajnath Singh and CPM General Secretary Prakash Karat. His main attempt was to detail to them the diabolical political games being played by the Congress for sheer electoral gains and thereby destroying the State. Rajnath Singh said, “The Congress has played a cruel joke. We have not changed our stand on Telangana, but the issues confronting Seemandhra region should not be ignored.”
After his meeting with BJP President Rajnath Singh, both the BJP leader and Chandrababu Naidu said there was no discussion on alliance issue. Rajnath Singh said the focus of discussions was on the political developments flowing from the decision on bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
There is uncertainty in the entire State and Chandrababu Naidu has explained in detail the situation prevailing there. During his meeting with CPM General Secretary Prakash Karat and CPM Politburo member Sitaram Yechury, Chandrababu Naidu was accompanied by Kodella Siva Prasad, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and Khambhampati Ramamoan Rao, besides Nama Nageshwar Rao, T Devender Goud and Errabili Dayakar. CPM General Secretary Prakash Karat said, “We have discussed the situation prevailing in Andhra Pradesh.
There is a political stalemate in the State. We seek an amicable and speedy resolution of the political crisis. The Centre must take the initiative in the matter.” Chandrababu Naidu said the State Cabinet, the Secretariat, Vidyut Souda and the entire administration has been paralysed. It is only the JACs and civil society dialogue that can result in durable solutions, as the Congress is playing games.
