Hyderabad: Kerala Police, riding on an exemplary showing by player of the Championship, Nazaruddin, won the 62nd B N Mullik Memorial All India Police Football Championship-2013 at RPF Training Centre in Moula Ali here on Friday.

In a lopsided final, they swept past Tamil Nadu with a 2-0 verdict in the finals.

Sashastra Seema Bal defeated the host RPF 1-0 in the play-off to finish third in the tournament that was the participation of 30 teams.

Later, K L Pandey, Additional General Manager, South Central Railway distributed the prizes, while, R Pacharwal, Chief Security Commissioner, RPF (SCR) delivered the welcome address.
The Organising Committee also felicitated four veterans for their contribution towards enlivening the sport.
They included Arjuna awardee and former India captain, I M Vijayan, who was the cynosure of all eyes.
Three others honoured on the occasion were former State player, Md Zulfiqar-uddin; Syed Habeebul Hasan Hamid, who participated in the pre-Olympic championship in 1959 and Jowel Bey of Assam Police, who represented in the Nehru Cup, SAAF Cup and SAF Games.
