New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, who is set to take the oath along with his ministers on December 26, has declined both security and official bungalow that come with the Chief Ministers. One of the main promises of AAP is ending VIP culture in the State. Kejriwal has also vowed not to allow red beacons for the CM and his ministers. Not only that the party in a video posted on social networking sites on Tuesday said it was fully committed to its promise to weed out corruption in the corridors of power.

It even warned both the BJP and the Congress that it would never shirk in taking action against its corrupt ministers. It said it did not "think of the Congress or the BJP" but "only of the common man" and its focus was on solving people's problems. The party also justified its decision to take outside support from the Congress and assured that it would implement all the 18 promises it had made. As regards security, Kejriwal had said on Monday that he trusts ‘God’ to take care of him.

Security has been offered by the Uttar Pradesh police as he lives in Ghaziabad. Party sources said that after oath-taking, he is likely to shift to a flat near Delhi Secretariat at IP Estate in Central Delhi. Delhi Special Commissioner of Police (Security) J K Sharma told IANS: "As Kejriwal lives in Kaushambi in Ghaziabad, we cannot provide him security there as per the norms of jurisdiction.

So we wrote to Ghaziabad Police ... to offer security cover to Kejriwal." Sharma said Delhi Police had tried to provide security to Kejriwal on Monday but he refused to accept it. "We are still hoping he will accept security cover. But now we have a big problem as he resides in Ghaziabad, and that is out of our jurisdiction. We will again approach him for taking security when he will start residing in Delhi," said Sharma. His ministers are also likely to shun the usually allotted Type 6 or Type 7 bungalows with three-bedrooms.

They will also stay in government flats. It may be mentioned here that Sheila Dikshit has been using a Type 8 bungalow on 3 Motilal Nehru Marg in Lutyens Delhi since 2003. After he met Lt Governor Najeeb Jung on Monday and staked claim to form the government with the Congress support, officials reportedly offered the usual accommodation and paraphernalia befitting the status of Chief Ministers
