Rajkot: Wife of auto driver becomes mayor

An affiliated member of Bharatiya Janata Party, who is the wife of an autodriver has been elected as the new Mayor of Rajkot in Gujarat. She assumed the charges on Monday. Rakshaben Boliya, the new mayor of Rajkot praised the leadership of Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi for his stand on gender equality, after assuming the new post. She will be in the post for next two and half years.

Raghubhai Narangbhai Boliya, her husband expressed his gratitude to the party for recognizing his wife's hard work. He is an auto driver by profession. He said his profession has never been a barrier for her career and praised the BJP top echelon for practicing equality. He said despite the fact his wife got a car from BJP, he will earn their livelihood by driving the auto.
