New Delhi: According to the sources, a day after US embassy’s announcement in capital Juba that most of the mission's personnel are being evacuated, a team of Indian officials on Saturday left for South Sudan. The Indian team has been led by Sandeep Kumar of external affairs ministry, sources added.
The Indian officials have clearly made it a note that the nation has no intention to shut down the Indian mission and said, further course of action in the manner of assessment will be undertaken to strengthen Indian interests in South Sudan, added official sources.
It is learnt that after the visit to South Sudan, the Indian diplomats will travel to Addis Ababa to meet IGAD mediators. There are still 250 more Indian nationals in South Sudan, even after many have already been transported by means of road and air since the violence broke out in Sudan on December 15, 2013.
