Chennai: In order to pacify DMDK leader Vijayakanth, an irritated DMK party president, M. Karunanidhi on Tuesday have severely reprimanded his elder son and party south zone organizing secretary M. K. Alagiri. It is learnt that Algiri was threatened to be sacked from the party affairs. The intention was to soothe the actor-politician Vijayakanth, who could be a potential ally for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.With the open reprimands of Karunanidhi over his own son now raises the curtains for the speculations of a possible DMK-DMDK tie up in 2014 general elections.
Answering a question posed by the media, Karunanidhi said relationship is not a barrier for initiating the disciplinary action against any of the party member. Later, recalling his recent statement expressing willingness to counterfeit an alliance with Vijayakanth’s DMDK, Karunanidhi distanced himself from Alagiri’s remarks on the issue and further reminded his elder son that only the party executive and general councils and the leadership were authorized to decide on alliance issues.
