New Delhi: The BJP is likely to emerge as the single largest party with around 210 seats in the 2014 general elections, according to an ABP News-Nielsen opinion poll that also predicted the lowest-ever 81-seat-tally for the Congress.

The BJP-led NDA is projected to form the next government with 226 seats while the UPA is likely to get around 101 seats. The present UPA strength is 228 while the NDA has 132 MPs.
Narendra Modi has emerged as the most preferred prime ministerial candidate with 53% respondents voting for him while 15% opted for Rahul Gandhi. Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal was the choice of 5% of the respondents.
This is the third opinion poll this week that forecast a comeback for the BJP-led NDA in the upcoming elections after the India Today-CVoter and the CNN-IBN-CSDS opinion polls.
The survey conducted nationwide predicted a gain of around 100 seats for the BJP, which has 112 members in the current Lok Sabha, and a loss of around 125 seats for the Congress, having a present strength of 204. The Left is expected to get 30 seats while the tally for other parties is pegged at 186 seats. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is expected to get around 11 out of the 543 Lok Sabha seats.
The poll predicts an anti-incumbency mood with 61% saying the UPA shouldn’t get another chance and 43% respondents rating the government’s performance as “poor” or “very poor”. Political battles were decided not in boxing rings but in the court of the people, BJP leader Amit Shah said, responding to SP's counter to Narendra Modi's "56 inch chest" remarks.
Shah was responding to SP leader Azam Khan's remarks made in Rampur yesterday that Modi should speak cautiously about Mulayam Singh Yadav as the latter was a wrestler too. Shah, BJP prime ministerial candidate Modi's trusted lieutenant and in-charge of party affairs in Uttar Pradesh, made scathing attack on Congress, SP and BSP, and claimed that "there was a wave against all the three parties in the state". Taking on BJP for not making power available in UP during its three time-rule, SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav promised 24-hour electricity for the state after a year.
