New Delhi: Ahead of the extended winter session of Parliament, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath on Monday said that many bills were pending in Parliament and the priority was to pass the six anti-corruption bills.

The bills came at a time when the Congress is facing severe criticism over large scale corruption during its tenure. The party is trying hard to portray itself as the one fighting against corruption and its Vice President Rahul Gandhi as an anti-corruption crusader. "We are not pushing Rahul Gandhi's poll agenda by pushing any of these bills," said Kamal Nath.

He also hit out at the Opposition saying their motive was not to oppose but disrupt Parliament. He said: "We urge the Opposition to support the government in smoothly running the last session of Parliament so that important bills can be passed. In the all-party meeting we requested the Opposition to rise above political compulsions, we urged them to support us in passing important bills including bills which will check corruption."

Meanwhile, BJP dismissed the speculation on the emergence of a Third Front, saying such a configuration would neither have "ideological coherence" nor a large political nucleus which could provide stability to it. Any talk on the Third Front would only help the formation of a Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre, the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Arun Jaitley, said.
