Vishnu Idols Found at Purana Qila. During its ongoing excavation at the Purana Qila, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has found a 12th-century Vishnu idol among several other interesting relics.

During its ongoing excavation at the Purana Qila, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has found a 12th-century Vishnu idol among several other interesting relics.

The mentioned stone idol dates back to the Rajput period is 18-cm-tall. The idol, which has conch and a wheel symbols associated with Lord Vishnu, was found at the southeastern corner of the Purana Qila quarry site.


It is worth mentioning here that the fort saw excavation for the first time in the year 1955 by renowned archaeologist BB Lal.
