Condoms at Delhi Metro Stations. It is not new that we find so many automated vending stalls in the railway stations that sell various products varying from snacks/ chocolates to coffee/tea.
New Delhi: It is not new that we find so many automated vending stalls in the railway stations that sell various products varying from snacks/ chocolates to coffee/tea. But sooner the railway stations will find the automated condom vending machines. As a pilot project, initially the Delhi Mail Rail Corporation will be implementing it at the metro railway stations in Delhi.
For this venture, HLL Lifecare Ltd (HLL), one of the world's largest manufacturers of contraceptives, has joined hands with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). With this collaborated project both male and female contraceptives will be made available for vending through machines at various Metro Railway stations across Delhi.
The list of the items that will be put on the market through the machines is not limited to condoms alone, but oral contraceptives, sanitary napkins and deodorants will also be made available.
It is worth mentioning here that the first multi-use vending machine was inaugurated by Lov Verma, secretary, ministry of health and family welfare, at Central Secretariat Metro station on Wednesday in Delhi.
