Why NDA Government, Why Not BJP Government in Centre. There is no doubt that BJP has good number of seats and the Party alone could form the government in the Centre. There is no doubt that BJP has good number of seats and the Party alone could form the government in the Centre. Nevertheless, the Bharatiya Janata Party has opted to float a coalition government of NDA rather than the sole government of BJP. Many may be wondering what the need for that was. The reason for that is as follows:

NDA Government, BJP Government, Centre, Coalition Government

Though BJP has a large number of seats in the Lower House i.e. Lok Sabha, the opposition party Congress has most number of seats in the Upper House i.e. Rajya Sabha. In order to achieve a reasonably good number of seats in the Upper House, the BJP has to wait for more two years. For the initial two years, the bills could be passed easily in Lok Sabha, however, when it comes to Rajya Sabha, there would be a dire need to depend on the support of NDA allies to get the bills passed. This is the reason at the back for forming the BJP led NDA government. Also, it gives a good impression among the allies that BJP has kept the ideology of alliance intact, though it has a clear majority. The same in turn would make a strong relationship between the alliances of BJP in its NDA team.

The same might has been a planned strategy for future also. The same situation as of 2014 General elections may not prevail during the General elections - 2019. If, the alliance is broken now, it would be very difficult to tie up alliance once again at that particular time. All these reasons collectively have paved the BJP to form NDA government rather than BJP government.
