New Delhi: Nirmala Sitharaman, the Union Minister for Commerce and Industries with independent charge, is likely to make her Rajya Sabha entry through Karnataka. The BJP High Command has already initiated the measures for the same, reportedly. From Tamil Nadu state, as many as two candidates found berths in Modi’s cabinet. Of these two candidayes, Nirmala Sitharaman is one. Nevertheless, Nirmala is not a member of any house of Parliament. Though she hails from Tamil Nadu, she attained prominence directly in National Politics only. She was born in Tiruchchi in Tamil Nadu and completed her graduation at the same place. She stayed in London for some time and returned to India over a period of time.

As the official spokesperson of BJP, she visited Tamil Nadu many times. It was due to the relationship she maintained with Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh she could able to get the cabinet berth. Nevertheless, it was a matter of concern from where she would make her entry into Rajya Sabha.
If the buzz is to be believed she would be sent to RS from Karnataka. It is worth mentioning here that elections for as many as four Rajya Sabha members from Karnataka are due in the month of June 2014. BJP has the support of 43 members one short of the required 44 members in Karnataka. So, it is for sure that Nirmala makes her RS entry from Karanataka with the support of one member from other party.
