If the buzz is to be believed, the NDA government at the Centre has focussed on the matter of state governors.
New Delhi: With the resignation offered by the Uttar Pradesh governor BL Joshi, on Tuesday, it has become evident that the news that has been making rounds is true. If the buzz is to be believed, the NDA government at the Centre has focussed on the matter of state governors. According to sources, the Union Government plans to see off the governors who were appointed during the UPA regime. To this effect, reportedly, the Union Home Ministry has been working out the plan. It is learnt that the veterans of BJP who are not in the cabinet would get the governor portfolios. Murali Manohar Joshi is most likely to become the governor of Maharashtra.
Almost 15 governors will be replaced with the new governors, added sources. In the past, no sooner UPA government has assumed the power in the centre than it has appointed their favouring candidates as the governors of the states, by removing those governors appointed by the NDA. The same is likely to be reciprocated now by the NDA government.
It is learnt that Jaswant Singh, the boycotted leader of BJP, would be given the portfolio of Tamil Nadu governor, in place of Roshaiah, the present governor.
