"When we got to know about the incident we kept our local resources ready. The expert team would have taken a lot of time to reach and since the students were stuck for long, we decided to get local trained divers to carry out the rescue operation. We successfully mamnaged to rescue the students," Bokaro DC Uma Shankar Singh said.

Situated across the Damodar river, the Tenughat dam is an important tourist spot in Jharkhand where hundreds of people usually gather everyday. The dam is controlled by the Jharkhand government. Earlier this month, in a similar incident, 25 people were washed away in Manali after water was released from the Larji dam.
