Modi goes up to 4th place among world leaders' Twitter ranks

Hyderabad: Narendra Modi, the prime Minister of India has mounted to 4th place in the list of most followed world leaders on Twitter amid growing acknowledgement worldwide that such online social networking has become an essential diplomatic and communication tool. The political activeness has been recently termed as Twiplomacy making it a combination of the two words Twitter and Diplomacy.

No sooner Modi has become the Prime Minister of India than he has pushed Turkey's President Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdo, each with more than 4 million followers, into sixth and seventh place. However, Modi and others have a long way to go to best US President Barack Obama, who, as of 24 June 2014, tops the world-leader list with 43 million followers. Pope Francis is a distant second with 14 million followers on his nine different language accounts. In third place is Indonesia's President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono who has more than 5 million followers and surpassed fourth placed President Obama's official administration account on 13 February 2014. Analytics of Modi's twitter account reveals that he joined twitter on October 1, 2009, and has essayed nearly 5300 tweets, averaging 6.31 tweets a day. He follows 1045 people, and 95 per cent of his tweets are retweeted. His most popular tweet followed his electoral triumph on May 16.
