GAIL pipeline fire: PM announces additional ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex-gratia relief of Rs. 2 lakh from the Prime Minister's Relief Fund for the next of kin of those who have lost their lives in the GAIL pipeline fire in Andhra Pradesh today.

"This is in addition to the relief assistance given by the Petroleum Ministry and GAIL. An ex-gratia relief of Rs. 50,000 has also been sanctioned for those who were seriously injured in the incident," a PMO release said.
The Prime Minister has also extended his condolences to the bereaved families of the victims and to the families of the injured survivors.
He has spoken to the Petroleum Minister, Cabinet Secretary and GAIL Chairman and asked them to ensure immediate relief at the accident site.
"My thoughts with the families of those who lost their lives in the GAIL Pipeline fire in AP. Prayers with the injured," he said.

At least 14 people were killed and seven others injured in a fire following a blast in a gas pipeline belonging to GAIL in Andhra Pradesh 's East Godavari district this morning.
Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) is the country's largest state-owned natural gas processing and distribution company.
