Bharatiya Janta Party leaders across the Nation today were present to endorse the appointment of party President Amit Shah in the National capital. This is the first meeting of the party's national council after the tremendous victory in the Lok Sabha polls. The UP election results, where the BJP won an extraordinary 73 out of 80 seats, prompted the BJP and RSS to elevate him to the numerouno position.

Former BJP President Rajanath Singh handed over the keys to Modi’s strong ally Amit Shah. Rajnath said that Shah’s contribution to the party cannot be questioned and further added that he will become “Jagath Guru” under Modi’s guidance.

LK Advani followed by Modi felicitated Shah as BJP President with a standing ovation and bunch of bouquets. The primary focus for incumbent president is to make his party ready for assembly elections. This was Amit Shah’s first face to face interaction where he highlighted the humble origins and said, "None of our former leaders have come from political homes and have instead worked their way up",

He was all gone into raptures for the party and said that he couldn't have achieved this stature in any other party but the BJP. The tremendous win in Lok Sabha was possible because the poor backed up the party. He said BJP represents and protects the interests of the poor. Predictably, Shah had praised his mentor Modi, and declared that this common worker will be hoisting the national flag on Independence Day.

Speaking about elections Shah said that every election from Panchayat to Parliament is to be taken seriously and openly declared that initially it was Congress versus everyone else but now it is BJP versus everyone else.
