Addressing at the BJP National Council for the first time after elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated new party president Amit Shah and wished the party would scale to greater heights under his leadership.

He showered praises on Amit Shah and said "Rajnath Singh was the captain of the team that led us to victory in the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections. Amit Shah was the man of the match”
Modi is confident that Shah will excel in this position and held that his speech reflects party’s ideologies. The Prime Minister clearly spoke of the massive responsibility of the party and further added “I have realized that our absolute majority has also forced other countries to change the way they look upon us. They do not see us in the manner anymore that they had seen us when there was an alliance government”
During the speech the Prime Minister mocked Congress for demanding results in such a short notice and said “Those who could not do anything in the last 60 years have already started making a noise asking for results in 60 days”.
Speaking of the WTO issue Modi sounded horrified that a UPA which had asked for votes on the basis of food security bill had signed an agreement in the WTO that was completely anti-poor.
Namo also said the BJP will not tolerate any act of violence that affects the nation and cleared the air about party’s intolerance regarding incidents that disturb peace. His words are consequence of Rahul Gandhi’s repeated fault finding on BJP for causing communal divide in Uttar Pradesh.
Modi suggested that each year can be dedicated to an issue about the welfare of the society and wanted both horizontal and vertical development in the party. Concluding his speech by giving his observations on the nature of democracy PM asked the party workers to realize that they are not saplings but a banyan tree that can offer shadow to many.
