M Thambidurai Elected as Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha. M Thambidurai, an All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) MP, was unanimously elected as the Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker on Wednesday. He had worked as the Deputy Speaker for one more term in the past.

His candidature was even supported by the main opposition party Congress. Venkaiah Naidu, the Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, strived his best to pacify all parties to turn Thambidurai, the deputy speaker of 16th Lok Sabha.
Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, and Sonia Gandhi, the UPA chairperson, have congratulated Thambi Durai upon him getting elected unanimously as the Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha.
