In view of the Assembly elections scheduled later this year Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah announced a new team of 11 vice-presidents, 8 general secretaries and 14 secretaries to lead the party.The new BJP president has balanced the team by choosing young team and experienced members. The party says that half of the team members are below the age of 50, while nearly 90 per cent haven’t touched 60.

BS Yeddyurappa , Satyapal Malik, Bandaru Dattatreya, MA Naqvi, P Ruppala, Prabhat Jha, Raghuvar Das, Kiran Maheswari, Renu Devi and Dinesh Sharma found a place in the team as the party's vice-presidents.
Rajya Sabha MP from Rajasthan Bhupendra Yadav is new general secretary while MP Varun Gandhi was dropped out. RSS leaders Ram Madhav and Saroj Pandey are made as General secretaries.
From the announcement it emerges that the party is focused on Assembly polls to be held in Maharashtra, Haryana, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir and, possibly, in Delhi and the bypolls in Uttar Pradesh. Shah has named 10 new spokespersons and notably there is no representative from Jammu and Kashmir. The party is simultaneously concentration on building its power in the southern states.
The party's spokespersons will include Shahnawaz Hussain, Sudhanshu Trivedi, Meenakshi Lekhi, Sambit Patra, M.J. Akbar, Nalin Kohli, B S Shastri, GVLN Rao, Anil Baluni and L Kumarmangalam. Anurag Thakur will continue as BJYM chief while the BJP Mahila Morcha chief will be Vijaya Rahatkar. Abdul Rashid Ansari will be BJP's Minority Morcha chief.
