BJP chief Amit ShahNew Delhi: KKeeping upcoming Assembly elections in Maharashtra, Haryana, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir and, possibly, in Delhi too, new BJP president Amit Shah has unveiled his new team of 11 Vice Presidents, eight general secretaries and 14 secretaries, besides 10 party spokespersons, five of them new. It is a mix of youth and experience.

The new BJP vice-presidents are Bandaru Dattatreya, B S Yeddyurappa, Satpal Malik, M A Naqvi, P Ruppala, Prabhat Jha, Raghuvar Das, Kiran Maheswari, Renu Devi and Dinesh Sharma.

The new general secretaries are J P Nadda, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Muralidhar Rao, Ram Madhav, Saroj Pandey, Bhupendra Yadav, RS Kateria and Ram Lal. Shah has retained Anurag Thakur as the BJYM president. Vijaya Rahatkar has been made Mahila Morcha chief and Abdul Rashid Ansari the Minority Morcha chief. Former Union Minister Faggan Singh Kulaste is
the new BJP ST Morcha president, while Dushyant Kumar Gautam will continue to be the party's SC Morcha chief.

The party's spokespersons will be Shahnawaz Hussain, Sudhanshu Trivedi, Meenakshi Lekhi, Sambit Patra, M J Akbar, Nalin Kohli, B S Shastri, G V L N Rao, Anil Baluni and L Kumarmangalam. New spokespersons are Nalin Kohli, Sambit Patra, Anil Baluni, G V L Narasimha Rao and Lalita Kumaramangalam.

The four new General Secretaries are Ram Madhav, who has been loaned by the RSS, outgoing BJP Mahila Morcha chief Saroj Pandey, Lok Sabha MP from Agra Ram Shankar Katheriya and Rajya Sabha MP from Rajasthan Bhupendra Yadav.

Another significant change is dropping of Varun Gandhi, Lok Sabha member from Sultanpur, as the general secretary. This, despite a campaign by his mother and Union Minister Maneka Gandhi for his elevation as the party's CM candidate in Uttar Pradesh.

BS Yeddyurappa, 71, who had to quit as Karnataka Chief Minister on corruption charges and even left the party, had been brought in to revive the party fortunes in Karnataka. Ram Madhav has been made general secretary for Andhra Pradesh.
