Patient declared dead by doc, found alive

Malda: Medical negligence cannot get worse than this. At a government hospital in West Bengal's Malda, a patient declared dead by a doctor was found to be very much alive when the grieving relatives went to collect the body. The doctor, Animesh Mondal, has since apologised to the family, saying he could not find pulse or heartbeat when he had examined the patient. Forty-year-old Mamata Sarkar had been admitted in a critical condition. Her condition deteriorated and she was on the verge of collapse. That was when Dr Mondal, who was the attending physician, certified her dead, hospital sources said.
