A special court in Bengaluru declared Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa guilty in connection with a case on her wealth.

It's worth mentioning here that the Tamil Nadu CM had declared her assets at Rs 2 crores when she became the chief minister and she drew Re 1/- as her salary. However, in 4 years her wealth was evaluated at Rs 77 crores + and there was no explanation for such a huge disproportionate assets to the known source of income .

"Her defence was income from being an actress and gifts from fans and others which sounds very weak," according to an advocate. Jayaa was charged under Prevention of corruption Act. She dragged on the case for 18 years, though not solely responsible for delay. The Supreme Court has ruled that conviction comes in the way of holding public office. These are not the days of Robin hood. So even though Jayaa has done lots of good things for the people.
