Kolkata: Alleging that a nursery student here was allegedly molested, scores of angry parents and guardians Monday staged a demonstration claiming inaction by the school.

According to the agitating parents, the incident happened Nov 3 when the victim was allegedly touched inappropriately by a staff member while they were being taken for an outing in a school bus. The matter came to light after the child told her parents about the ordeal Sunday.

"The school has been trying to hush up the matter, it has been more than a week but no action has been taken," said one of the agitating parents.

The parents and guardians claimed they were apprehensive of the security of their wards and demanded that the school initiates a probe.

While a formal complaint is yet to be launched, police personnel were at the spot trying to calm down the agitators.

"Once we receive a complaint, we will initiate a probe," said a police officer.

The school authorities have also assured the parents of a probe in the matter.

In a similar incident, a civic police volunteer was Monday arrested for allegedly molesting a girl student of Class four in Bahrampur in Murshidabad district.

The accused, Amit Sarkar, was thrashed by parents and guardians after the victim identified him. He was later handed over to the police.

"We have arrested Amit Sarkar for allegedly molesting a girl student of a government school here. According to the complaint, the accused made sexual advances towards the victim," said an officer of Baharampur police station.
