Islamabad: A teenaged girl was killed Saturday in an exchange of fire between Pakistani para-military troopers and India's Border Security Force (BSF) along the International Border (IB), a media report said.

Samira was a resident of Punjab province's Sialkot city, Dawn reported.

The situation along the IB has been tense since India and Pakistan reported casualties in the area.

Pakistan says the latest round of firing began when the Indian border guards killed two Pakistan paramilitary troopers in Punjab's Shakargarh sector in Narowal district Wednesday after calling them for a flag meeting.

India, however, says four Pakistani troopers were killed on the border in Kashmir after the killing of an Indian border guard earlier that day.

On Friday, Pakistan sought a probe into the killing of the two paramilitary troops, saying the incident damaged the existing bilateral mechanisms for peace.

In a letter to Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Sartaj Aziz, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's adviser on Foreign Affairs and National Security, conveyed Pakistan's protest over the killings and called for a probe and punishment for those involved in the incident.
