On the auspicious occasion of the 67th Army Day, I extend my heartiest congratulations to all ranks of the Southern Command, our honoured veterans, Veer Naris, civilians and their family members.

On this momentous day, we take a pledge, with renewed vigour and zeal, to protect and safeguard the sovereignty of our Motherland. We the soldiers of the Southern Army hereby resolve to defend our Nation against all adversaries. All challenges will be met with utmost dedication and extreme professionalism and no sacrifice will be spared in ensuring peace and security for India and it’s citizens.
The Indian Army’s Southern Command has always given its best while guarding the vast frontiers in it’s Area of Responsibility. We have selflessly assisted our citizens in times of calamities and natural disasters, most recently in Andhra Pradesh during cyclone Hud-Hud and Typhoon Phalin and during the floods in J&K and Gujarat. I as the Army Commander assure you that a renewed sense of purpose coupled with heightened enthusiasm will continue to guide our Command to extend every assistance to one and all, whenever called upon to do so.
The path ahead is strewn with challenges. I am confident that each and every soldier of the Indian Army and Southern Command will step forward willingly and cheerfully, to rise up to every challenge and when called upon, be prepared to make any sacrifice in ensuring peace for India. It is our solemn promise to the Motherland that we will stand between India and her enemies and let no harm befall on our citizens. I call upon every member of the Southern Army to rededicate themselves to the onerous task of defending our nation. I wish you and your families all the best for the future.
