The Seer of Avadhootha Datta Peetham Mysore,Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swami on Saturday has set Guinness World Record at Tenali in Andhra Pradesh for “leading most people chanting event at a single venue for global peace,” in which 1,28,913 devotees chanted Hanuman Chalisa 27 times each.

HYDERABAD: Not only sportsmen, singers and speakers but also Swamis are setting Guinness records these days .

The Seer of Avadhootha Datta Peetham Mysore,Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swami on Saturday has set Guinness World Record at Tenali in Andhra Pradesh for “leading most people chanting event at a single venue for global peace,” in which 1,28,913 devotees chanted Hanuman Chalisa 27 times each.

The earlier record was 1, 08,000.Swamiji received the official Guinness certificate from the hands of Tamilnadu Governor and native of Tenali. Dr. K.Rosaiah.

The event “Hanuman Chalisa Parayana Maha Yagnam”was organized by the Datta Peetham on a 50 acre vacant land near Burripalem Road. The Guinness representatives witnessed the event and handed over the certificate. “The chanting of Hanuman Chalisa is for Global Peace. It is nothing but the grace of Lord Hanuman that I have chosen Tenali as a venue,” Swami said lauding the support of devotees who gathered to break the earlier records.

A training programme for volunteers was conducted on Friday at the venue to keep the pace of chanting of the Hanuman Chalisa at an uniform and brisk pace to complete all the 27 rounds in time to break the record.

A fifty feet tall Hanuman idol and the Hanuman Yagna at the site had attracted people not only from Guntur district but also other districts of Coastal AP. Large LCD screens were arranged all over the venue for comfortable viewing of the rare event. Tenali MLA Alapati Rajendra Prasad and DSP Ms Soujanya with her 500 strong police force coordinated the event.
