New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pinstriped dark-blue suit (bandhgala), which he wore during US President Barack Obama’s visit to India as the chief guest for the Republic Day celebrations, continues to come under attack from Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi. The pinstripes on the suit were a line of continuous words in gold hue is the name ‘Narendra Damodardas Modi’.

Rahul Gandhi took a dig at the Prime Minister once again on Wednesday referring to his suit. He said, “Modi is talking about ‘Make in India’ but he wears a Rs 10-lakh rupee suit which was made in London.” Rahul Gandhi was addressing a rally in Jehangirpuri in Delhi during which he also questioned what the Modi government manufactured so far except for hollow statements, and there is no rise in employment.

The suit worn by the Prime Minister was reported to be designed by London-based 170-yearold Holland & Sherry through a fashion designer in Ahmedabad. Holland & Sherry designs custom-made suits with names of people embossed on the fabric for its exclusive customers.

Earlier Congress spokesperson Anand Sharma termed the suit as the sign of Modi’s narcissism. During Obama’s visit to India, the Prime Minister wore five sets of dresses in two days showing his sartorial tastes. But the BJP spokespersons are reticent to comment on this fearing what to say.
