The Chattisgarh Government headed by the Chief Minister Raman Singh has directed that February 14 will be observed as a 'Matru-Pitru Divas alias parent's worship day day . Instructions have been issued to all government schools across the state that from now on-wards February 14 will be observed as ‘Matru-Pitru Diwas’ or the ‘Parents Worship Day’ every year.

The objective is both to spread awareness among youth about the sacrifices made by their parents to educate them and out them on the right path of success.'Students and young hearts should recognize the sacrifices of their parents before they jump into their own oasis of love and affection for the lady of their choice and winner of their hearts .

Chhattisgarh Government had actually started this practice and celebration recognizing the parents as the spirit behind the success of their students . It all started off two years ago. However, from this year, the State Government has institutionalized this practice of celebrating February 14th as ‘Matru-Pitru Diwas’ instead as lovers day.
