New Delhi: A core meeting of Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday decided to invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Arvind Kejriwal's swearing-in ceremony as Delhi chief minister on February 14 at the Ramlila Grounds."We will invite the Prime Minister to the oath-taking ceremony of Arvind Kejriwal," AAP leader Ashutosh said during a debate on a television channel.

“The decision to invite Prime Minister Modi was taken during an internal meeting of AAP leader,” he said. BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli, evaded a question of the anchor person whether PM Modi will attend the ceremony, saying, “I speak for the party not for the Prime Minister.”

The invitation to the Prime Minister comes in the wake of the NDA government ignoring Arvind Kejriwal, a former Chief Minister, for the Republic Day celebrations. The BJP leadership to rub the salt in AAP’s wounds invited their party’s chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi. AAP, in a tit-for-tat, took this decision to show its magnanimity to prove that its its landslide victory has not gone to its head.
