President Cautions Against Safronisation Agenda. After the Delhi debacle, President Pranab Mukherjee has urged the Governors and Lt. Governors that they have the “primary responsibility” to ensure Prevalence of peace and communal harmony apparently side stepping the responsibility of the elected government .

After the Delhi debacle, President Pranab Mukherjee has urged the Governors and Lt. Governors that they have the “primary responsibility” to ensure Prevalence of peace and communal harmony apparently side stepping the responsibility of the elected government .
The President remark on communal harmony could be like adding fuel to fire to the BJP which took a heavy pounding in the just concluded Delhi polls which allegedly is a vote against satisfaction of Delhi. In the background of the same the President remark at the 46th Governors Conference in Delhi came a shocker to PM Modi and his cabinet members present at the meeting .
He warned that any deviation from the Constitutional principles and provisions would weaken the democratic fabric of the country and “jeopardise” social, economic and political well being of citizens. President's comment that Governors should protect the constitution has come as a bolt from the blue to the BJP hierarchy.
President Pranab said that the Constitution is the only guiding document for providing framework for governance to ensure peace and communal harmony.
