Patna: Senior Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar, who is firm on making a comeback to silence his critics, on Friday emulated Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal as he apologised to the people of Bihar for his 'emotional decision' to step down.

I apologise for my mistake. Will never take such emotional decisions again and will always take the wishes of the people into consideration. We are committed to working for the development of Bihar. Me resigning as the Chief Minister was a mistake," Nitish told a press conference here.

The JD (U) leader added that he had already staked claim to form the government and was waiting for Bihar Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi to invite him to form the government.Nitish also fired salvos at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and his successor Jitan Ram Manjhi , who resigned earlier today ahead of the trust vote in Bihar Assembly.

"The drama of this script was written by BJP. I never interfered in the government as alleged by Manjhi. Manjhi tried his best to violate anti-defection law and use all illegal means to garner support," he said.

Nitish had stepped down as the Chief Minister after his party's dismal show in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

Earlier in the day, Manjhi had accused Nitish of trying to remote control his government. He also alleged that his legislators and ministers were given death threats ahead of the trust vote.
