Hyderabad: Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday admitted that Andhra Pradesh did not get what was due to it.Addressing a press conference here, Venkaiah Naidu advised Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu not to express his displeasure in public. “I have asked Chandrababu Naidu to prepare a report on the expectations of his government from the Budget and what was missing in it. If the Chief Minister visits Delhi with such a report, he can meet the Prime Minister, the Finance Minister and the Home Minister”.

Naidu said there was no need for him to lose hope and assured that he would take up the issue with the Prime Minister and Finance Minister. He exuded confidence that the TDP though unhappy with the allocations would not severe ties with the NDA. He said he had already spoken to Chandrababu Naidu over the budget allocations and he did not get any such feeling. At the same time, he too felt that allocation of Rs 100 crore for the Polavaram project was just a token allocation.

He assured the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh that the Centre would fulfill all the promises made under the A P Reorganization Act-2014. “The government firmly believes in cooperative federalism and strong India through strong states and Team India approach,” he said. Allaying apprehensions of the Andhra Pradesh government, Venkaiah Naidu said the residuary state would get a total of Rs 2,06,819 crore as a result of enhanced devolution during the next five years. Of the total funds allotted, Rs 8654 crore would go for panchayats, Rs 3636 crore for urban bodies and Rs 261 crore for the judicial system, he said.

The 14th Finance Commission has examined the financial situation of the residuary AP as brought out by the state government in the white paper on state finances and made the recommendations, Venkaiah Naidu said, adding that the state may still need support for financing certain activities like building a new capital city. The centre has included metro projects of Vizag and Vijayawada in the budget, he added.Referring indirectly to the impasse in parliament on land acquisition bill, the Union minister said it was unfortunate that for political reasons, developmental efforts of the BJP government were now being stalled. This would prove detrimental to our people.
